Aren’t We Really Disconnected?

Aren’t We Really Disconnected? What is the difference between being connected vs. disconnected? While many may think that we are already connected thus united. Not so. We’re connected in silos but disconnected because of silos. Just consider how many different “places” you enter to connect with others in different ways throughout the social web. Is it ten, dozens, hundreds or thousands? How many different tools do you use to “connect”?

Lets consider just a few: Connected Places

These are just a few of the ways we connect. Get the picture?

While you may be connected to your friends both you and your friends are disconnected from the efficiency and effectiveness of being connected to a virtual web with no walls, no boundaries but a web which gives you the freedom of choice to “connect or disconnect” whenever and where ever you want.

The definition of “connected” is as an adjective meaning (usually with “well-”): Having favorable raport with a powerful entity. The definition of “power” is as an adjective meaning having, or capable of exerting power, potency or influence. The opposite of power is powerless or having no power or influence that can be exerted.

To really be connected we must unite our voices, our wishes and do so in an organized fashion. If we want to gain true power over our virtual environment then we must unite our relations, start here. On the other hand if we like being powerless then lets simply stay “disconnected” and let the powers at hand decide how well we can connect and to what.
