2009 Trend Briefing covering GENERATION G

by Jay Deragon on 01/22/2009

generosityTrendwatching writes: Has there ever been more urgency for corporations to ditch the greed and embrace generosity?

It’s something that countless individuals have already started doing, of course: giving is the new taking, and sharing is the new giving. And yes, we do realize that this month’s Trend Briefing is massive, but in this business climate, can you really afford not to spend some time figuring out how to get a little closer to your customers?

The topics in Trend Watching latest report covers:

1. Recession and consumer disgust
2. Longing for institutions that care
3. For individuals, giving is already the new taking, and sharing is the new giving

A word of warning to business professionals…

And when it comes to customers, GENERATION G is not just about giving it all away for free

Speaking of which: being generous to customers doesn’t always mean giving away everything you have: we’re not suggesting you forget about bottom lines and profitability. Hey, even we—while happily publishing our Trend Briefings for free—do charge for our 2009 Trend Report. GENERATION G is about being a bit kinder, a bit more caring towards your customers.

8 ways for corporations to join GENERATION G

1. CO-DONATE
2. ECO-GENEROSITY
3. FREE LOVE
4. BRAND BUTLERS
5. PERKONOMICS
6. TRYVERTISING
7. RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS (RAK)
8. (F)RIGID NO MORE

2009 is ushering in a convergence of new dynamics politically, economically and culturally.  The basis of these dyanmic changes is relationships and the social web enables the dynamics to improve everything.  What’s on your agenda? What say you?
