From Compete.com: Twitter Traffic Flat – Related Sites Going Strong
No doubt people are still tweeting out there and looking for real time news, updates, and information. However, traffic to twitter.com has flattened over the past few months while other Twitter related sites showed major growth.
Aggregator site Tweetmeme crushed it in July, ramping traffic by 85% month over month to 11.8MM UVs, suggesting that there is some real value in combing through the noise and offering consumable information. July traffic to Twitpic (up 9.6% to 4.6MM UVs) and bit.ly (up 20% to 5MM UVs) also grew in July, indicating increased adoption and usage of more Twitter related tools.
Notice the emphasis about what the data from related sites like TweetMeme are suggesting that there is some real value in combing through the noise and offering consumable information. For those consuming all this social stuff the need to comb through all the noise and find applications that can save time and increase productivity is the clear shift that creates attraction.
The same rule applies to advertisers and marketers. Stop creating the noise and clutter with ads that have no context to what people are seeking. Doing so will require a total change in approach to markets and the relationship marketers seek with consumers.
When people want or need something they have been enabled to easily find it. Finding your brand is relative to those who have experienced your product or service and the traffic which indicates how many people seek your product or service.
Pay attention to the data, the meaning and use it to change your methods which starts by changing your thinking. The currency of a conversation is directly related to the relations you have with your market. Stealing time and productivity is not considered social. Get it?
What say you?
