The term feed has several meanings including: To provide for consumption, utilization, or operation: b. To supply with something essential for growth, maintenance, or operation: c. To distribute to a larger audience or group of receivers.
There are hundreds of different tools to use on the internet to “feed ones content” (distribute) to different communities and audiences. Content represents a conversation and some conversations get consumed, utilized for growth and propagated to larger audiences.
Some conversations go nowhere because there is no “substance represented in the content” and the conversations has no context to the needs of others. Doc Searls has said “markets are conversations”. To “feed” a hungry market you must provide substance in the conversation.
The market represents business and consumers hungry for knowledge that is useful, relevant and leads to innovation in thought and application to the needs of the market.
Are You “Feeding” On Substance?
Conversational currency can be assimilated from new knowledge. But knowledge is a “substance” that is created from information. Creating knowledge requires creativity. Creativity comes from seeking new perspectives and ideas aimed at the “creation of new value”. The substance of the markets of conversations is represented by the creation of new markets born out of creativity. Knowledge born from creativity feeds the rivers of conversational currency.
People and businesses need substance to grow and prosper. Without the substance of knowledge people become static in thought, income and unable to put meaning into the changing environments. You can determine the substance of a persons thoughts by their conversation.
Business cannot grow without the substance of knowledge as the means to create innovation. Information, by itself, is not knowledge but is propagated to the masses to drink day in and day out. The media feeds the masses overloaded and slanted information with little substance rather lots of distraction. Media reports on the events of the moment and spins these events into self fulfilling meaning. Meaning without context and knowledge is useless. Content without context is simply information overload vying for consumer attention. Historically we have been feed “media” that has not satisfied our appetite for knowledge.
The real markets of conversations are creating a new economic paradigm
based on the conversion of information to knowledge which begets innovation. Innovation creates value in the form or time, productivity and convenience. These attributes produce capital because of the value created and the currency exchange from acquiring the new value is the creation of new markets.
Social media is fueling disruption of traditional markets that have feed the masses information. Now the masses are feed by people creating new media. The people are propagating new information that taps the creative power of the masses to unite and transform information into knowledge. This dynamic is propagating engagement by the masses at accelerated rates that are fueling disruptive shifts for those unprepared and uninformed. Examples of this disruption are everywhere.
If not kept aware of the emerging changes and the impact on our world, our economy and your business then you’re simply being “fed” junk food by consuming the wrong media.
“New media” is creating a new economic paradigm fueled by conversations. It’s called conversational currency.
What say you?
