martin-luther-dreamMartin Luther King, Jr. is recognized – in fact, revered -  for his efforts championing civil rights and influencing race relations in America during the ’60’s. His march on Washington, an event attended by over a million people, was capped off by one of the most important. most heralded speeches in history. Ponder this.

What if Mr. King had of enjoyed access to social media resources? Can you imagine how enormous the impact of his message would have had? The number of followers just on Twitter alone would have been staggering. And think of the influence his message would have enjoyed by being shared by millions of daily informed conversations. I can’t help but think that his movement would have found a more efficient, more effective and even less violent resolution.

Also, I can only imagine what a different world we would live in today if during that turbulent decade our leaders and their followers had been able to exchange ideas and engage in healthy dialogue with one another. But that was then. And this is now.

Our nation still faces significant challenges. So far, in every generation someone has risen up from among us with a vision that unites and a voice that inspires. But this time he – or she – will be empowered with a volume of social media resources that are unprecedented in all of history. If you think “I Have Dream” was something, imagine “I Have Dream 2.0.” Now that’s change you can believe in.
